Cho Young
Band Leader, Vocalist, Singer-songwriter
ChoYoung was born in Bucheon, South Korea. She started her music career when she was 5 years old. She performed in Korean traditional musicals and was also a member of the choir at her school and the church.
In 2010, she started to perform professionally with her band ‘SoulClef’ which was a R&B band. She had many great experiences with her band; releasing album, Indi band performance, lots of gigs, and public activities for hip-hop brand MF, etc.
In 2011, before she left Korea, she participated in a composition contest with her friend. The team name was ‘Roahn’ and they won a prize and released collaboration album. They had some performances including Myeong-Dong church, which is one of the Catholic churches in Korea, and appearance on radio shows and TV. ChoYoung also worked as a backing singer. She had concerts and music festivals with famous Korean musicians such as DoHyang Kim, Yoonju Jang, JK DongWook Kim, and Alex.
ChoYoung had a private instructor Sunny Kim who is a rising jazz artist in Korea. She learned many things from her, and because of her influences of jazz. She decided to go to USA to study Jazz. She applied for Berklee College of Music and accepted as a proud recipient of Berklee Asia Scholarship Tour. Since 2012, Choyoung is studying at Berkee College of Music. After she got into Berklee, she had many great experiences including recording sessions, recitals, concerts with great musicians like Marcos Valle, Patrice Ruchen. Also, she performed at the Singers Showcase, Berklee's premier vocal event, offers a variety of styles and musical settings for some of the college's exceptional singers. The outstanding lead singers are chosen from more than 100 students who audition for a spot in this immensely popular concert.
After graduated, she has made her project band “MusiCoreAmerica” and performed in Korea and USA. She has been performing in several states such as California, New York, Georgia, and Massachusetts. She plans on continuing to do so.
